SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Hemilitron (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.74 g, 9 h), circa 410-405. Head of Arethusa to left, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace and with her hair bound by an ampyx in the front and a sphendone in the back; behind, ear of barley. Rev. ΣY-PA Wheel of four spokes; dolphins in lower quarters. CNS II, 21. HGC 2, 1479. A lovely, well struck coin with a beautiful head of Arethusa. Nearly extremely fine.
